How to play it

Open wounds with normal hits, Flayer 5 makes them much easier to inflict and adds bursts of non-elemental damage as its buildup pops, then destroy them with Focus Strikes for the Partbreaker bonus. Weakness Exploit 5 rewards staying on the weak point, and Burst 5 builds raw and element as you keep hitting. Convert Element adds dragon damage on top of your weapon element after you take an elemental hit. Hasten Recovery heals you as you keep attacking, which cancels chip damage. It struggles on monsters that resist wounds.

Synergies

  1. FlayerPartbreaker

    Flayer 5 and Partbreaker 3

The Arkveld γ vambraces and greaves carry two points of Flayer each and the charm the fifth: wounds open much more easily and the skill deals extra non-elemental damage as it builds up. Partbreaker 3 (three Destroyer jewels) raises part damage and the damage of Focus Strikes that destroy those wounds, so the two feed each other and the whole party benefits from the wounds.

  2. Hasten Recovery II4 ptsGuts (Tenacity)4 pts

Hasten Recovery and Guts' Tenacity from Arkveld γ

Four Arkveld γ pieces give Arkveld's Hunger rank II, Hasten Recovery: continuous attacks regenerate health. It heals less on the Long Sword than on faster weapons but cancels chip damage. The same four pieces carry Lord's Soul for Guts' Tenacity: more attack, less defence, and one lethal hit survived.

  3. Black Eclipse I2 ptsBurstEvade Extender

Black Eclipse from the coil and the roll

Sororal Coil α and the Gore Magala's Tyranny roll make two points: overcome the modified Frenzy by dealing damage and it grants bonus affinity. The coil also brings two points of Burst and Evade Extender 2.

  4. Convert Element

Convert Element on top of your element

Arkvulcan Mail γ carries Convert Element 3: after an elemental hit it adds dragon damage for a while without replacing the weapon's own thunder (or other) element.

  5. Attack BoostCritical BoostWeakness Exploit

    Raw first, element second

Attack Boost 5 (the Attack Jewel III plus the charm) adds a percentage bonus from level 4, Critical Boost 3 and Weakness Exploit 5 cover crits, and the Bolt/Crit Elem jewel maxes Thunder Attack with a point of Critical Element. Blight Resistance 3 from the γ pieces makes it a good pick against Arch-tempered Arkveld.

Swaps

  • Other elements: replace the Bolt/Crit Elem jewel with the Dragon, Blaze, Stream or Frost version on a Headsman's Hamus of that element.

  • The charm is a random roll (Attack Boost 2, Flayer 1, slots 2-1). Darcblade calls it personal preference: aim for a point of Flayer and a slot for the third Destroyer jewel, otherwise use what you have.

  • Only Gore Magala's Tyranny is required on the weapon, not Lord's Soul: the four Arkveld γ pieces already cover Guts' Tenacity.
