How to play it

Keep some red health to hold Resentment's raw bonus and Bad Blood, block on time for Offensive Guard, and Power Clash whenever you can to trigger Binding Counter. The build is light on defence, so blocking is how you stay alive. In a group, especially with other shield users, Power Clashes are not guaranteed. It hits hard enough to clear most of the game and start farming the endgame.

Synergies

  1. ResentmentBad Blood I2 pts

Resentment 5 from the Udra helm and coil

The Udra helm and coil carry three points of Resentment and two Furor jewels add the rest: bonus raw while you have red health. Two Nu Udra's Mutiny pieces unlock Bad Blood, which adds damage while Resentment is active.

  2. Weakness ExploitAgitator

Weakness Exploit 5 and Agitator 5

Exploiter Charm III and three Tenderizer jewels cover Weakness Exploit (one level more than needed, which leaves room if you only have Exploiter Charm II). The Dahaad and Numinous pieces bring Agitator 5.

  3. Critical BoostOffensive Guard

Critical Boost 5 and Offensive Guard 3 on the weapon

Two Critical Jewel III max Critical Boost, which multiplies the raw part of every crit, and the Guardian/Ironwall jewel gives Offensive Guard 3 and a point of Guard.

  4. Binding Counter I2 pts

    Binding Counter from Power Clashes

Two Jin Dahaad's Revolt pieces raise raw after you recover from webbing, frostbite or a pin, and after a Power Clash, which the Great Sword performs easily.

Swaps

  • Before you have Exploiter Charm III, use Exploiter Charm II: the build already runs one Tenderizer jewel more than it needs.

  • The Numinous Shroud β is the hardest piece to farm; everything else comes from early High Rank monsters.

  • Once you have γ armor and Gogma Artian rolls, move to the Raw Gore or Blackest Night builds.
